The Figure of the Scholar in Friedrich Nietzsche's Philosophy

The limits of the anthropological language in the works of Eduardo Viveiros de Castro and Marilyn Strathern
Klouček, David ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Tesárek, Jan (referee)
This thesis aims to compare the work of Eduardo Viveiros de Castro and Marilyn Strathern in terms of their meta-anthropological argumentation. To this end, an interpretation of the key moments of both authors' work is undertaken, with a focus on the theory of anthropology. For Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, the text focuses mainly on his conceptual work associated with the ontological turn. The concepts of perspectivism and multinaturalism and their thought context are introduced. For Marilyn Strathern, attention is focused on her melanesianist monographs in order to present the specifics of her argument, concepts such as the dividual and relationality are briefly introduced, and the author's critique of certain social science frameworks of analysis is mentioned. The intersection of the works is seen in the motif of perspective, but the work also draws attention to the limitations associated with the search for intersection. In the comparison, the author tries to create a contrast in the authors' approach by reconstructing selected parts of their arguments, which are always viewed through the logic of the other's work. The resulting confrontation shows the limits of both authors' works in terms of their concreteness and points of contention. Thus, through the optics of Strathern, de Castro does not...
Dialogical Approach to Truth in the Plurality of Cultures and Religions
Jirsová Fassati, Paula ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Štěch, Ondřej (referee) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
Thesis abstract This thesis, "Dialogical Approach to Truth in the Plurality of Cultures and Religions" has two main goals, theoretical and applied one. It defends the importance of contextual relativism and perspectivism for the dialogue of two different discourses using a theory of language games. An individual lives in his or hers own special historical and geographical situation, in particular psycho-physical condition with a limited perspective through which he perceives the surrounding world. Only if the individual could be aware of these limits, to be able to renounce a tendency to generalize his own point of view without confronting the others within a dialogue. It is possible to judge the truthfulness, functionality and the level of development of any discourse only in the context and within the categories of the discourse itself. This approach is reflected in the field of interreligious dialogue by the idea of post- pluralism. It stresses the uniqueness of each independent religious discourse, while refusing both superiority of any particular religion on one hand and merging all religions into one common group on the other. One cannot discover the ultimate truth due to the lack of "general perspective" over all religious traditions and, therefore, he cannot judge ("This religion is the only true",...
Concepts of a Fictional Character in Contemporary Narratology
Dvořák, Jan ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Málek, Petr (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to present essential concepts of literary character in fiction as they were produced by literary theory and criticism mainly in the second half of the twentieth century. The thesis offers comprehensible comparation and reflections of individual concepts and then attempts to offer some relevant implications for conceptualization of literary character. The implications are considered in practical interpretation of a particular narrative: the short story The Death of Mr. Baltisberger by Bohumil Hrabal.
